We are so excited to welcome you to Château de la Vieuville in Le Châtellier, France!
Here are some suggested ways to travel from Canada to the venue:
Fly from Canada to Paris: Most major Canadian airports (Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver) offer direct flights to Charles de Gaulle (CDG) Airport in Paris.
Take the TGV high-speed train: Inside Terminal 2 at CDG Airport is the train terminal for TGV (France's High Speed rail system). Ensure to book a ticket from CDG to Rennes a month or two in advance. The best website to use is https://www.thetrainline.com/
Board a TGV train from CDG Terminal 2 to Rennes. The ride takes about 2.5 hours and is fast and comfortable.
If you are staying in Paris prior to the wedding and will not be in the airport, you have another option of leaving from Montparnasse Station in Paris. The travel time between Gare Montparnasse and Rennes is only about 1.5 hrs (much faster).
No matter if you depart from Montparnasse or CDG Airport, please ensure you book a ticket well in advance. these trains get booked up quickly during the summer months.
Several European hubs (such as Paris, Amsterdam, or London) connect to Rennes Bretagne Airport (RNS). If you arrive in Rennes, you do not need to take any trains; you're only about a 40 minute drive from the Château.
Rental Car: The easiest option is to rent a car in Rennes for maximum flexibility. Driving through the countryside is beautiful and straightforward.
There are several different companies that rent cars within the Rennes train station and Rennes Airport : Hertz (Train station only), SIXT, Europcar and Alamo (Rennes Airport only). Any of these four will do, although we prefer Europcar.
Ensure that when you’re looking online for the cars you’re on the French version of the websites; google chrome will translate the page for you.
You must pre-book a rental car as early as possible; there are a limited number of cars and this period of time is when most of the French population have their yearly month-long vacation.
You can also try to rent off the car rental platform Turo; its cheaper, but if you take this route only rent new cars, older cars in France have a tendency of getting pulled from the platform (newer than 2020).
Remember, most of the French rental cars have manual transmissions; keep that in mind when booking (If you need a tutorial Adrian is available lol)
Taxi or Private Transfer: Taxis and pre-booked private car services are available at Rennes station and airport.
Carpooling with Other Guests: If you’d like to coordinate rides with fellow guests, please let us know—we’ll help connect you!
If you prefer more flexibility or want to enjoy a road trip through the French countryside, you can rent a car directly at CDG Airport. Google rental cars at CDG and you will find a variety of different rental companies to choose from.
The drive from Paris to the château takes about 3.5–4.5 hours, depending on traffic and route.
The journey takes you west across France into beautiful Brittany, with opportunities to stop in charming towns along the way.
✨ Whichever route you choose, the journey will take you through the scenic landscapes of Brittany—setting the perfect tone for the celebration ahead.
Attached below is a google doc that has a further description of how to get from Paris to Fougeres (the town next to the chateau). It has pictures and maps of CDG airport and the Rennes train station, as well as some trips and tricks to remember when driving in France.
